05-23-2019 12:20

The report includes summaries of admissions, discharges, patient days, neonatal and newborn admissions and patient days, emergency department visits, and ambulatory surgeries for the month of March 2019.

Overall & Observations
The overall number of psychiatric and newborn admissions have declined since a peak in October 2018. Continuing a previously observed trend, the number of observation days peaked in March. In addition, the total number of Emergency Department Visits per day for March is within the expected range. However, the MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Howard University Hospital continue to experience increased numbers of visits per day (extreme increase compared to Providence and moderate increase when compared to other Emergency Departments).
