National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Annual Training

When:  May 14, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (ET)
The annual D.C. NHSN training is led by subject matter experts from the CDC. The workshop is a full-day, FREE event for health care professionals from both the District’s acute care and long-term care facilities. Continuing education credits will be offered to participants upon completion of the training. Attendees will be guided through two-specific tracks based on their facility type to ensure the training is tailored to meet specific needs across the health care continuum. 


Infection preventionists, epidemiologists, staff responsible for entering data into NHSN, infectious disease physicians, hospital staff who apply NHSN definitions

Core Training Objectives 
  • Review HAI trends both nationally and within the District of Columbia.
  • Review updates to the NHSN Manual for 2019.
  • Apply NHSN definitions to case studies.
  • Demonstrate the use of NHSN to generate reports and analyze data.
Attendees will be treated to a networking lunch to enable peer-to-peer engagement and encourage partnership development across the various facility types. More details are forthcoming, so mark your calendars and standby for updates!
